About this Event

Does talking about racism makes you uncomfortable? When you hear racist slurs, are you not sure how to respond? Are you wanting to discuss racism with your children but not sure you know enough on the subject or not sure where to start?

This event is for you!”Something to Say” is an intergenerational, faith-based, anti-racism effort. The goal is to equip, encourage, and engage families in speaking up about racism. When racism appears in our world, everyone has “something to say.” “Something to Say” will be an online event on MLK weekend, January 17-18, 2021. The event itself will take place the weekend of January 17-18th (MLK weekend) and will be largely self-guided with some set opportunities for interacting online with other families

Please note that your activity kit will become available after January 2, 2021.

Event Schedule, Including Pre-Events

On Sunday January 17 we will release an online worship service for congregations and families to use for worship. All those who have registered to receive conference materials will have access conference guides and an antiracism toolkit. Three video learning modules will be released. The videos may be viewed together as a family at any point throughout the weekend.

On Sunday evening, families will be encouraged to watch a movie together and engage in some discussion. Afterward, at 8:00PM, there will be an opportunity to check in with leaders and other parents in a zoom discussion.

On Monday at 2:00PM there will be another live zoom check in with families to answer any questions and reflect together on the learning modules.

On Monday at 6:00PM, the event will end with a live multigenerational panel discussion and Question and Answer period.

By registering for “Something to Say” you get access to hosted events and 2 pre-event Bible studies for all ages that will be available on zoom or facebook live.

“Something to Say” conference is here to equip, encourage, and engage families in telling their own stories of racism. In seeing racism when it appears in our churches and our world, we equip voices, recognizing everyone has “something to say.”
