Two ways to sit at the table this fall.
We know how hard this conversation is to start. Not because people don't care — most do. But because nobody ever taught us how to talk about race without fear, defensiveness, or the exhausting sense that we'll get it wrong. This fall, Race & Faith is opening two online spaces — held over Google Meet — built to change that.
RegisterBefore We Speak
Most of us were never sat down and taught about race. We absorbed it — from family dinner tables, church pews, classrooms, and screens — long before anyone gave us language for it. Before We Speak is an invitation to slow down and look at what we actually carried in.
What We Carry Into the Room
Some conversations about race don't fail because people don't care. They fail because no one named what everyone brought into the room before the talking started. This is for those ready to examine what shapes every conversation before a word is spoken.
How it works
- Where: Online, hosted via Google Meet. A link is sent after registration.
- Format: Small groups, so the room stays safe enough to stay honest.
- What to bring: Just yourself. No reading, no expertise, no polished answers required.
Start here instead — sit with this question for a week:
"What did you learn about race before anyone actually talked to you about it?"
